I've used JS a good bit, but just much prefer Python, especially for science. It does definitely have its uses!

I know the advantage of Node is primarily to better sync frontend and backend, and its nice to deal w/ a single lang.

It can be great for intensive computation, with multiple workers, webasm or c(++) bindings, and is continuously optimised...

I love the fact I built essentially from completely custom spec a totally novel thing in leaflet maps. The prototyping is ridiculous.
