I've used JS a good bit, but just much prefer Python, especially for science. It does definitely have its uses!

I know the advantage of Node is primarily to better sync frontend and backend, and its nice to deal w/ a single lang.

But aside from having a personal preference for JS, I'm curious what other advantages JS has purely outside of the browser- cross-platform?
