but at least on my laptop, it looks like the problem is the PYTHONPATH when you try to run the tests.

create a symbolic link from the repo is to somewhere else that is in your load path? That's often my go to.

set PYTHONPATH to include the directory; or, more properly, do 'setup.py install', but a bit more dev work needs to be done for that.

right now libcdist.so is not installed, so that needs to be added to setup.py.
