Why do we hear the word brunette so much but brunet is so rarely used? Blond isn't hugely common but certainly moreso in comparison.

It's also more objectifying to say blonde, brunette, redhead. Eg: "a brunette walked into a bar" vs "a brown-haired man walked into a bar".

For other words w gender: actor/actress, dominator/dominatrix similar things to do with sexism cause the f version to have -ve connotations.
