Can I just remain an anti-capitalist witch, or do I have to give up men? … I kind of like my husband…

I'm very gay and my partner's a man.

I… … have learned something? I think I will stay identifying as “ally” though… I feel I don’t have nearly enough insight to claim identity.

Ally is very tricky. Many tend to use it to divert attention. Those who don't wish to do that tend to be careful identifying as it. Tricky.

It all depends on what kind of activism circles you're in. Generally though allies have a bad rep.

Absolutely. I choose the term begrudgingly. I don’t know a more concise term for, “I don’t have authority to speak; here’s what they say.”

I really do try to retweet and amplify the voices of others that have “skin in the game” over providing my straight-splaining.

I didn't mean to imply you are a(n) (bad) ally, but you used the term and I wanted to explain the connotations.

Indeed. Thank you. Also, didn’t think you were implying that. “Ally” is just a word with a lot of well-justified baggage.

It’s also why it was in quotes to begin with… I don’t want to give the term its own standing for validity or authority.
