It's much easier for me to get feedback from my supervisors in word, and I get far more distracted by formatting in LaTeX

The versioning aspect is really good though. But I'm going to start converting my word docs to plain text and versioning in git I think

My advisor really likes the "track changes" in Word, so it's hard to sell him on LaTeX. For large documents, I find LaTeX unbeatable in keeping all your references and internal links consistent.

I just find the time sorting those < the extra time it takes me to get words on a page in LaTeX

Each to their own/horses for courses. All my PIs have thankfully been LaTeX positive.
@overleaf and@sharelatex make transition easy if you -
want to try. But I would never be so rude/bold as to tell you what to tell your supervisor to do!
