Every time I try and move graphs and Word disappears them I get tempted to switch to LaTeX then remember this paper:http://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0115069 …

Haha I also have come to quite like LaTeX and will use it for smaller documents but I think I'm still team Word for the most part!
-
Why small? I think niceness of being able to store my PhD as plain text (i.e., LaTeX) & use version control (never lose work) was the best.
-
It's much easier for me to get feedback from my supervisors in word, and I get far more distracted by formatting in LaTeX
-
The versioning aspect is really good though. But I'm going to start converting my word docs to plain text and versioning in git I think
-
My advisor really likes the "track changes" in Word, so it's hard to sell him on LaTeX. For large documents, I find LaTeX unbeatable in keeping all your references and internal links consistent.
-
I just find the time sorting those < the extra time it takes me to get words on a page in LaTeX
-
Each to their own/horses for courses. All my PIs have thankfully been LaTeX positive.
@overleaf and@sharelatex make transition easy if you -
want to try. But I would never be so rude/bold as to tell you what to tell your supervisor to do!

Oh definitely! Noone enjoys using Word. But slow writing for me = more distractions. Harder to get my head down + crack on with LaTeX
-
I am the exact opposite. I don't even have Word since I'm on Linux, but if I have to use a word processor I'd be crying from the stress.
