What's best place to store many big data files too big for github but needed for the repo to work? GLFS and pay? Dropbox? Something else?

+1 for
@datalad and git-annex. I honestly don't know how I would do without them. Add data dir as submodule in parent git repo, and voilà! -
Do you have a nice example with datalad/git annex to share?
-
I've been thinking about this for a while...I guess it's time to write a blogpost about it ;)
-
Or contribute to the
@datalad webpage right away. RST based page, one PR away... -
Please let us know!

If it's for other people, upload to UCL/personal server, and put bash/curl script in repo?
-
That's a good idea. Does UCL allow that I wonder?

Not had need to yet. But I bet it's good
@eknahm ! -
@o_guest@StephenEglen It is sooo good, I dream about it at night. It is almost human too ... got 300+ open issues ;-) -
I've been eagerly waiting to use it. But getting it installed on systems with no admin/root access is a nightmare still.

We have an experimental build / bundle of datalad with nuitka... Didn't try yet on OSX, but should work I hope. What is your OS/release?
-
CentOS 6.9
-
"Installing" git annex then is a piece of cake, just download and extract https://downloads.kitenet.net/git-annex/linux/current/git-annex-standalone-amd64.tar.gz … and point PATH to extracted directory...
-
We should state that in our installation instructions.
