I wish I could press a button & everybody who's coding (so all) in my lab would use version control (ideally git) & an open source language.
That's great. My lab has an organization gh account & so we all have accounts but it's obviously not something they use on a daily basis.

It was a different context but back in day we had good results from making a platform central to group meetings & individual discussions 1/2
-
...if you want to discuss something raise an issue. Presentations in group meeting done from platform. Takes a push but worked for me 2/2
-
It's not a bad idea. So lemme explain where I am. I'm going to do a presentation about how to use git and github. Because I've realised a
-
lot of files which are used for lab wide stuff are binary files. I need to actually explain why that's bad as well as why it's useful to use
-
it correctly with text files.
-
That makes lot of sense. I struggled to get some folks beyond uploading PowerPoints and word files. But at least I then had them in 1 place
-
That's true. I'm not against them uploading binary files but they need to realise what that does. Importantly everybody is doing modelling
-
but nobody except me (I think!) uses version control... It's upsetting as they could be working in a safer way.
