I wish I could press a button & everybody who's coding (so all) in my lab would use version control (ideally git) & an open source language.
Everybody in my lab has told me they know what it is. But yes, I'll do a thing on it too.

Also as a lab we have an account on github. An organization account every has access to.
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

VC imposes a huge training burden for those who run labs that employ a broad variety of backgrounds. Not all lab employees are o_guest

I am willing to donate DNA for clones if needed.

-
Totally, I'll turn on the vats
-
On a more serious and less dystopian note: yes, it is a lot of effort to train people to use VC even the ones who really want to learn.

Esp for those not using command line. IME, gui git tools are touchy and don't interplay very well. Have had better luck w Mercurial
-
I am scared of GUIs so I feel your pain. I can't image it working in a GUI...
-
Your fears are justified, problem is that this means teaching cli is almost a prereq for enforcing VC (as of 2014 when I last tried)
-
Again people in lab claim to know it and I believe them. But knowing obviously isn't the same as using/enjoying/etc.
