Except for still using some Matlab, @jennDSN's lab pushed that button... Only took massive HPC facility failure as motivation.

That's great. My lab has an organization gh account & so we all have accounts but it's obviously not something they use on a daily basis.
-
It was a different context but back in day we had good results from making a platform central to group meetings & individual discussions 1/2
-
...if you want to discuss something raise an issue. Presentations in group meeting done from platform. Takes a push but worked for me 2/2
-
It's not a bad idea. So lemme explain where I am. I'm going to do a presentation about how to use git and github. Because I've realised a
-
lot of files which are used for lab wide stuff are binary files. I need to actually explain why that's bad as well as why it's useful to use
-
it correctly with text files.
-
That makes lot of sense. I struggled to get some folks beyond uploading PowerPoints and word files. But at least I then had them in 1 place

Everybody in my lab has told me they know what it is. But yes, I'll do a thing on it too.
-
Also as a lab we have an account on github. An organization account every has access to.

Sympathies. Sometimes the smarter and more specialised the work, the more people resist stuff like this as a needlessly peripheral skill.
-
Maybe one helpful tactic is to nerd snipe them. Show a bisection finding a tricky bug? & show it saves time rather than distraction.
-
Be interested if you post about what you do and how it goes down.
-
I'm not sure I can nerd snipe as I'm pretty sure they already accept I'm more of a nerd.
