We haven't even submitted the manuscript. Would you reanalyse and present someone's data before they published without telling them?

If sci's are concerned about scooping then I would suggest they don't archive open data w/ their preprints. Either share at preprint stage >

What is untenable imo is researchers releasing open data & then expecting ppl to *necessarily* do anything beyond citing it following reuse.

Agree if you say this is open go for it. But prior to pub putting usage conditions (e.g. collaboration etc.) on the data is OK?

Yeah of course. Absolutely fine in my book.

Although I would suggest if you want to limit others' analyses or publication of analyses it's more prudent to release after publication.
