exactly, my methods include writing figure-specific Python to output Tikz, but also trying to hold my hand steady as I mouse Paint.

The insets and overlaid arrow diagrams look pixelized to me, so I'm guessing those were done in paint?

Strange that Artem would do this, but I obviously do not want to tell him what to do... it does bother me but it's not my figure!
