Not at the moment. I've had some offers over the past year which had potential to turn into perm positions, but I'm not ready at all.

Not everybody I guess is ready at the same time nor linked into networks in the same way. I know people who got permanent positions right

just enjoy my long postdoc, as I'm lucky to have a long project, and not worry about what I'm going to do in 5 years yet.

Yep. I'm at the end of a five year postdoc. It's hard to watch the friends you make over those five years struggle.

my closest friends (none at UCL yet) are doing more postdocs than they want to.

Although I'm one of those people that thinks going to industry isn't a death sentence because my experiences in academia have been grim.

As in, I think going to industry can be awesome for the right person and staying in academia can be abusive for some.
