Yep. I'm at the end of a five year postdoc. It's hard to watch the friends you make over those five years struggle.

Although I'm one of those people that thinks going to industry isn't a death sentence because my experiences in academia have been grim.

As in, I think going to industry can be awesome for the right person and staying in academia can be abusive for some.

I'm doing OK, I guess. Dunno how well solve the two body problem. But I'm spending the next year applying for fellowship funding.

If I have funding, problem is easier as Fra well supported in Denmark. Sadly, no lectureships avail there so I can only go back with money.
