I think when I explained how I'm talking about my self-expression and labels, being told they are somehow negative felt like I was being
-
normalised and pushed back into the closet. Because the closet is not just denial of being LGBT (or indeed other oppressed "invisible" IDs)
-
but denial of even allowing linguistic access to concepts about being LGBT.
-
It made me feel very uncomfortable to be told those things but I nonetheless can accept like I have been asked to that it's not from a place
-
malice or ignorance, which I assume leaves carelessness and misunderstanding on the table.
-
So while I accept the above and Iris' words on the matter, the general matter of labels. I must underline that what happened was a specific
-
case which had the context of my attempting to explain labels for me with clear examples, so it was very much one of 2 meanings (not both).
-
Anyway, no hard feelings from me and I'll be way more cautious in future about which topics I reply to and how much.
