Making an argument a bit less extreme could be more helpful. Shit happens but it is at the tails of a distribution.

Useful (underline that) explanations need to address most cases. Tails are near outliers, they exist; they are the most dangerous cases but

I think we are in agreement by the way. It's obviously messy in the real world, nuance etc.
