Making judgemental statements about people based on the colour of their skin is racist. Dot.https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/905049833794363392 …

Not true. More focused on the detail to help resolve the overall problem. Emotion shouldn't override your reason here
-
I'm not emotional at all. I'm not the one who's started two threads on this instead of reading up, mind!
-
It's not a detail if you believe in reverse racism. You're literally using right wing rhetoric when you say white people are not racist.
-
White people benefit from racism both in their own countries and around the world.
-
It's not a fruitful topic to repeat to you what many others describe online better than I can, also I think you're not interested in change
-
which I actually respect merely to the point that I won't waste any more time on you.

Perhaps it is that we are worried about the redefinition of the term "racism" to apparently mean "original sin".
-
No, it means white privilege.
-
So let's call it white privilege. Acknowledge that it exists and discuss how to reduce. Saying "all white ppl are racist" is pure clickbait.
-
It was clickbait constructed by the ppl wanted to attack the model Bergdorf by taking her statements out if context. And it worked it seems.
-
Part of solving racism is understanding you're culpability. Yes, if you're white you benefit from racism.
-
I'm done though because of what I said herehttps://twitter.com/o_guest/status/905348300525723648 …

Not just that tweet, all the following ones. It's such a waste of our time. Bye.

I'm sure we all agree that systematic racial biases exist. To label one "racist" is to accuse them of being complicit. Maybe another term?
-
https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/905336935027179520 … It is entirely clear how Munroe Bergof used the term. These reactions are derailing, and in that sense complicit.
-
That's like saying criticism of a scientific claim is "derailing". You cannot redefine a loaded term and not expect resistance.
-
Huh? The model Bergdorf was not making a scientific claim abt some essentialist property of 'white ppl'. Come on, this is really derailing.
-
And if you want to refer to a scientific meaning of racism refer to social theory. Not our field. Hence my suggestion to listen to others.
-
1) Social theory is not a science. 2) Twitter is not an academic journal. Physicists don't try to redefine the everyday meaning of "work".
-
Unless you redefine the meaning of the word science of course.
