People are discussing whether diversity & inclusivity should be linked to open science research practices. I 100% agree that

But all these points are just (or should be) about being civilised, not specifically related to science. 》

Does it, in your view, also include idea of involving communities affected by research in the research, so as to ensure relevance but also
-
to prevent 'othering' and false 'neutrality'. I think for instance of research involving autistic ppl and trans or otherwise gender
-
Involving communities... how? At what level?
-
Well, if you research trans women but are so clueless you call them MSMs, or refer to them as "transexuals". One way to avoid that is to
-
actively engage with this community and listen to them.
-
Also since you research them you want to be respectful and actually have good relations with the community you use to get your participants.
-
Otherwise you risk your research being research only a small subset of trans women or even none as they rally against your bigoted ass.

See a little here written by
@DrLoveBC for our lab:http://bradlove.org/blog/ipa-motto -
I coincidentally read that, when having a look at the lab's research the other day, and was impressed/inspired.
-
I was too when I first read it!
