who might screw me simply because they 1. don't like my facial movements or 2. don't like me because i complained about this
like maybe the culture isn't as supportive as you said previously? Could that be true?

no, they are very nice! my colleagues at the dept too
-
I don't know how you can say somebody who humblebrags is also nice, but I trust your judgement since I do not know them.
-
no, they are not humblebragging (or just sometimes, maybe). i don't think it's anyone's fault, really
-
for example, i have been complaining about perhaps not being able to do the job i like! that's also not a "real" problem.
-
I wish I could say something helpful. I'm sorry if I've made things worse.
-
sorry, i am frustrating you! I just wanted to say that for example the oxford women in science get togethers talk about "rejection" etc

I mean, they simply *are* that successful. of course, it's alienating.

it's not about what they do, but I don't see anyone like me. some tell me about having gone to a normal school as if that were disadvantage
-
That's alienating. I went to a shitty government run school in a 3rd world country w/ pedophiles in it. Nobody thought it was a big deal.

I guess it's not negging, but it's certainly made to feel like an Other.
-
When everybody around you is humble-bragging you can feel really left out and alienated.
