I think sometimes it's more about making an atmosphere/giving an impression than about teaching somebody something, if that makes sense.

Totally. And I will say that teaching doesn't mean you have to agree or give credence to the bigotry you're weeding out in people.

With my guy friends I was very blunt and critical but I also responded when they asked *genuine* follow-up questions.
