If you were looking at a poster, and the author isn't there to answer questions, would you go to a shortened URL to see additional data?

Science is about saying something, say it in the poster or reconsider your point. If ppl want data, they can email you or wait for the paper

If the person is not there (picking up water/coffee, needing a [toilet] break, etc.) I would really appreciate a link to a preprint or wtv.

Other things that are useful that I REALLY recommend you do are: 1) take print outs of your poster to hand out to people, these really help

if you want people to remember you; 2) practise two versions of your poster a long and short one (maybe 5 minutes and 10), this is so great

because you also can switch between the two if you need to based on audience's interest and 3) always make sure you go and check the area

your poster will be as soon as you can. This is useful because there might be better ways to stand etc that you haven't realised because of
