This seems to be the case in my opinion with a lot of stuff. More money in universities (compare US endowments), more time spent doing PhD.

All these result in better trained, less naive graduates. Also don't forget in USA many drop out, in UK rare. So selection/survivor bias.

Americans are very obsessed with modesty, I died every time I had to say "restroom".

In much of the former British empire (e.g., Canada, India) the standard term is still "washroom".
