The sad part is, it might be partly your fault. Rodents always eat the babies if they're starving, or the babies are defective. :-/

Just found an employee removed the babies and cleaned them, then returned them. Vet today said rabbits often kill babies in this situation

Shouldn't have been starving, they get a large assortment of fresh green + root vegetables from the farm every day.

But I haven't been monitoring apart from occasionally looking in to see that there is plenty of fresh food. So maybe :( Will be more careful

Yes, you must never touch (not rodent!!) lagomorph babies they get eaten — sorry this happened.

Ugh, I should have known/remembered this from mammalian biology at undergrad. Thanks for the detail, reading up now.

I need to come up with a way to explain to the employees in question whilst making clear I am responsible. But death affects ppl so strongly

I wonder if I'd be better keeping quiet about it unless a situation where the knowledge might be required arises again

Um, your rabbit will get pregnant again really soon, no?
