Some basic bookkeeping on diversity could be carried out by the conference organisers. For example, keeping track of how many women talked.

And the same for all URMs. It's a really useful way to gauge baseline participation (showing up) vs direct engagement (giving talks).

You realise that is what the OP asked for, right? She didn't attend SIPS and so asked you to explain what it is like.
