Some people are very good manipulators even as phd students.

I've seen people position themselves in ways only a person with no emotions or moral fibre can. Stepping on bodies along the way.

I know someone who did get "kicked out" but they were doing a 1+3 phd with a rotation year and one of their rotation supervisors had enough
