TBH "went a stranger to a Swiss restaurant" is how 98% swiss-made horror stories start. they LIKE if u use the respective lands language.

Next one we went to spoke Italian (Spanish, Portuguese) and was willing to try English, so it was fine. One of us speaks p good Italian.

Try English somewhere high up there in a alpine hut. Chances are they just can't speak it.

All the cog trains had announcements in English and they go all the way to the "Top of Europe". Impressive country!

To get to the top there you almost universally might need at least good hiking boots, if not crampons, ice axe, rope, etc :)
