(in my case it's both; if lower i find it cutesy, if higher & we interact prof it often takes a gd well timed comment to reassert one's lvl)

complex because often you wonder what the angle is. Personally I think some cases are too put you down explicitly others just ignorance.

People who decide to put you down, are a useful category IMHO. Once I know I can just ignore it or mock back depending on context.
