Negative take on preprints. IMHO doesn't mention true criticism: feedback will disproportionately be, & already is, given to "better" labs.https://twitter.com/SmallPondSci/status/889440829848395776 …

based understanding of new systems of peer review...
I am mildly skeptical that preprints "simply" reinforce status quo, based partly on my own experience. Lots of nuance to be explored!
(big fan of studying it tho!)
I don't think they reinforce the status quo, but I do think they are biased towards preferential treatment of those who are high up within
the current system who do choose to use preprints. I think current biases are able to skew new ways of science.
I also notice specific patterns from specific high prestige groups using new technologies and vectors of communication. I also think that
for better or for worse trends on twitter and cliques on twitter don't represent my field more broadly and thus suspect it's the case in
other fields too. Some of the more vocal (RT'ed, etc.) people on twitter hold little sway in the field more generally, e.g., and on and on.
Both my 1st author papers have had preprints - no comments on either. Both changed dramatically (for better!) after peer review.
I assume you mean PR organised by the journals for you and not as a result of the preprints being commented on in private?
Yep journal peer review - ran out of characters.
