Sadly "equity, diversity, inclusion" is something I have seen some within so-called open science spaces seek to dissociate themselves from.

So glad to see it included here. Not worth opening science up if there's nobody there to share it with!

Inclusivity very important, but seems like a separate problem than open science. Link to explanation of why association necessary?

To be clear: I agree inclusivity is an issue that needs to be addressed, even in open science.

I think you answered your own question? Inclusivity and diversity are important because otherwise who are we opening up science to?

Important but different goals? Open science is improvement regardless of inclusivity; inclusivity necessary regardless of open science.

With regret, given Windrush, US refusals to accept birth certificates as proof of citizenship, and widespread antipathy to those without local, legal citizenship, I respectfully suggest "community science" or some other term. And aren't many scientists also citizens?

That's a fair point! Also looks like it exists! We should amend the umbrella. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_science …
