I actually try my best not to Google them and usually succeed. In fact don't think I've ever done that while doing the review.

How is someone telling you your writing is so bad it needs a native English speaker to read over it in any way not insulting?

Maybe the reviewer is an ESL speaker and simply struggles with polite english. Maybe people from particular cultures just talk direct.

Maybe systemic biases aren't down to things like this

Dani is from the same culture as the reviewer... and British and not known for being direct (anything but! haha)

It's not even me, it's so many people I know. It's ridiculous. I've had reports of this off maybe 10 people now.
