This honestly mystifies me. Why do people hate GUIs? Using the command line drives me crazy. It's like puritanical self-flagellation

So many people I've worked with look down on me for using a GUI for version control, but it's so much quicker and easier!

I don't look down on anybody — each to their own... But I've tried GUIs for version control and other stuff and I just can't.

As a general rule, if I can't find a GUI to do what I want I end up writing one! Like these professionals. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkDD03yeLnU …

Trust me, no one else would have any use for the things I make...

Oh
you don't know that! I've put like random stuff I use on github and people ended up using bits.

I'm crap at making things general purpose; my stuff is too kludgey and buggy to be of use to anyone but me. Plus it's mostly in Director!

Exactly! (It's a mostly obsolete multimedia environment, but it's still great for rapid prototyping)1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
I've used gtk+ in C in the past but now I rarely create GUIs. If needed though I can do it, there's PyGTK too which is similar.
