I'm not ashamed at all. But I realise others might feel that way, and I hope they can see things we're taught as children are not our fault.

I grew up being told that all that mattered was my looks cos my personality sucked, but at least somebody might love me cos I'm pretty.

Ugh. Gross. I get shamed now 20 years later and 4 thousand kilometres away. "Your muscles are too big." Some ppl shouldn't have children.

I respect that. I think your mum might not be as bad. My mum cried when I got my PhD because she was embarrassed that it's in Psychology.
