I don't know what to disbelieve that it's been advertised as a joke or that it's been sent around to motivate people.

One big one is PIs who don't help you publish — like at all.

I've seen that in big labs, where if not you, someone else in the lab is publishing anyway, so the lab still gets papers out

So, it's not a big worry for PI if X doesn't get his/her paper out, bc the lab is still getting papers out

In all honesty, I wish I had been in labs like that. I love my current one so much, but past ones have been quite unproductive.

I'd like to see proof that labs that have people working more hours and taking less vacations publish more and better science
