Why did nobody tell me the .prj can just be copy pasted from another .prj!
HOURS OF MADNESS TRYING TO DEBUG THIS.

1/ If you ever have the pleasure of using arcpy you'll find the spatial ref .tostring method and .prj file text look the same...

I haven't had this pleasure but there is a (I think documented) big bug in geopandas which makes shapefiles .prj be 100% wrong wrong wrong.

Saved wrongly that is. No idea when it occurs exactly either as some shapefiles are saved just fine. Tried re projecting, manually setting

crs, geopandas is like "NO HAHA". So OK. Copy/paste it is.
