I think this is really the issue (and that goes way beyond racism, sexism etc). A lot of people are skeptical of open science...

We shouldn't treat it as a "movement" as this only makes it seem more elitist which is really the antithesis of what it ought to be...

That said, I don't see a special responsibility of OS advocates to condemn this guy. Every decent person should condemn racists.

I don't want to debate if it's a movement or a community or not because it's beside the main point: K uses OA to legitimise is racist ideas.

The key thing is that open data allows anyone to use it for whatever purpose they want, wrong ideas can & must be challenged using open data

I'm not 100% sure the data was legit open the first time, stolen, and now its only open on demand from racist author.
