So there is both unethical rhetoric, unwarranted rhetoric driven by ulterior (non-sci) motives, and unethical data collection methods.

The latter is covered by ethics committees the former is usually covered by special committees set up as and when needed.

So nothing I'm stating's particularly new or that nuanced — however it might be to some groups who don't need to think about these issues.
