I don't avoid open science or want to default to status quo. All my code is open, all my data is open, I have preprints etc. I just care.

I'm in between. On board with open science ideals but concerned about the potential to amplify biases that exist in the current system.

I'm into open* because it correlates more with welcoming, kind, ready-to-learn values than does the incentivised, hierarchical status quo.

Building new inside old has soft boundary. Best not to see this as "infection" of open science by closed hearts but as a chance to educate.

Hopefully educate on openness meaning inclusivity as well as the other great makings! So much work to do for open science imho.

And such interesting work. Closed review problems known. Naive open review vulnerable to bias. What else can we engineer?

Open review as better than closed, sure. But those who warn vulnerable to bias are right. Let's make new system better than both.

The anthropology of why otherwise open-hearted open science people get defensive when bias vulnerability is pointed out is interesting too.

The reactions read similarly (to me anyway) to reactions of dominant group in other discussions about bias, hard not to take personally
