I can see why it might be preferable to use @OSFramework instead of Google Drive for version control, but when should I prefer Git over OSF?

I use github a lot. i like the light command-line interface, and am just comfortable in git. Also, automatic uploads on a CRON for data.

My biggest reservation is having to push all changes manually (Windows machine). Just doesn't seem worth it if only benefit is version ctrl.

I hate forgetting to push! Branches are also a big help. They correspond to processes rather than places. I should use them more.

I think there's some interesting analogy to be made between git branches and progress in science.

Whenever I forget to push at work I ssh into the machine and push from home.

Make of that (analogy-to-science-wise) what you wish!
