my interp (and I've heard it a fair bit over the years): open science comm quite unwelcoming in many ways. This is a recent example.

It was a damned hard community to break into. Any step I took to be more open, I felt attacked for not doing enough/doing it right.

That's happened to me. First time I submitted a preprint I got ppl telling me off because I didn't put the right license. LOL
