Yes. Sorry but Open Science has a really bad rep, especially among URMs (under represented minorities) (and I quite like open science)

Indeed interesting and worrisome. Is the bad rep among URMs because of goals or because of advocacy methods?

I mean, I thought it was fairly clear from the thread that some of the advocates themselves just don't come across well

Yes saw that. But was asking specifically for URMs

I'm not sure what you're asking but maybe you could ask a wider range of URMs

Wondered whether it's open science or the way people push for it. And will surely ask wider.

Certainly bad rep and I'm all for open science. 100% committed, I have tons of open code, a preprint (and will continue with more), etc.

I've tried (not always succeeded) to focus on gen'l/struct'l issues, not specific people; be positive about small steps; do, not just preach

we are actively trying to figure out how to offer training opps in data science and open science to URM undergrads esp.

(I don't think I have a handle on most of the issues and certainly would not claim to be able to speak thoughtfully on the subject.)
