If I may join and give my opinion - I went straight to PhD and I often wish I would have done MSc first. It was a Q of funding though

Yeah, that's a very common theme I hear from people either directly or indirectly. MSc was good at helping me understand certain things.

I think doing MSc might give you some space to think about how you want to progress later + you get some "starter skills" if you go for PhD
