Any recommendations for tutorials for switching from matlab to R? Focus on transfer, not start from scratch. @robustgar @o_guest

I have a repo where I documented my first use with a ton of comments — no idea if useful, but: https://github.com/oliviaguest/split-apply-combine …

Yes,
#rstudio really is a must, I don't know anybody seriously using R who doesn't use it. And the worst thing about R is that you need to > -
both learn R and your favorite packges bc free software from diff devs can mean fairly arbitrary coding rules.

thanks. that sounds like invaluable advice.

Thanks for you help everyone! Wrote an R script correlating MCQ and essay question scores and will ditch 5 of 5 exam questions -- win!

Evidence based teaching, using R, you're a star!

5 of 10, got carried away there,.. anyway: thank you!

Might be worth putting the script online/git(hub) for your own educational purposes — although arguably not the data, haha.

#dplyr and#tidyr do wonders here by the way https://www.rstudio.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/data-wrangling-cheatsheet.pdf … -
True, but maybe 2nd level after switch ;) Imo very diff from matrix manipulation in matlab. But might be good to have on ones radar

My students don't need to learn to do silly things like subsetting data "by hand" in R, just use
#dplyr from start, makes life easier.
