Reasons offered so far: cf. oth countries: more jobs (inc. faculty jobs), less sexism, NHS, lower teaching loads. More than I expected, tbh.https://twitter.com/chrisdc77/status/868905532857487360 …

Yes, the NHS saved my life twice. Both times because the alternative health care in my home country would have allowed me to die.

Very glad to hear it. I'm a great fan of the NHS. Has does life-changing things for our family as well. I fear Brexit will destroy it.

My home county would have got me killed many times. They also tried to deport me.

Another thing the UK did for me. Offer me citizenship because my home county refused to give me one.

Being stateless is illegal. Nonetheless where I was born, my mother's homeland, decided I'm not Cypriot enough, cos dad is important only.

They tried to deport me when I was 2 or 3 years old. Not everybody has a home to go to.
