Not a lot of empiricism in any of the author's claims, leading me to believe maybe it is the author who does not understand science also.

Are you a logical positivist?

I think the claim/critique was "pro-science people primarily engage in virtue signaling, without an understanding of science."

What always happens to me is ppl become annoyed that I won't get enthused about latest single study BBC etc. are all excited about!

Haha what losers — as if the BBC reports science well in any way shape or form. The norm = very badly reported.

Also ppl even within science, between fields for example, can be very very uneducated. I know ppl w/in cog/neuro sci who think GMO = evil.

yes I know ppl with such views within science too! GMO and even things like sucralose!

Oh yeah so much stuff. It's almost as if scientists are not magic. We're just people like everybody else. This is why fetishising sci = bad.
