"among the elite who want to own science (and pwn anyone who questions it), most ppl have no idea how science works" http://www.slate.com/articles/health_and_science/science/2017/04/the_march_for_science_was_eerily_religious.html …

What always happens to me is ppl become annoyed that I won't get enthused about latest single study BBC etc. are all excited about!
-
Haha what losers — as if the BBC reports science well in any way shape or form. The norm = very badly reported.
-
Also ppl even within science, between fields for example, can be very very uneducated. I know ppl w/in cog/neuro sci who think GMO = evil.
-
Tons of the points raised in the article about people extraneous to science are even true for working scientists.
-
He makes some fair points, but can we stop using 'elite' all the time?
-
I don't mind it when it's geared towards actual middle class white ppl to be honest — but I also take your point.
-
Since when is mediocrity elite? I always thought it was more an upper class thing
-
I don't like using elite as pejorative!

I don't think the author's claim is *untrue*, per se, I just found the author's specific complaint in this case undermined by their argument
-
Well, my lived experiences say otherwise.
