One reason to avoid .docx and prefer .pdf but still use Word (if you so wish) is that you basically exclude some scis from opening the file.

Like I'm on Linux when I receive a finance form that is just .docx what am I supposed to do? Ask the dpt to fund me to buy a Win laptop?
