Yeah it's been shown empirically that the Google algo is biased towards treated subdomains as starting from 0. So if a site is www and they
create a blog subdomain it starts from scratch with its SEO/rankings etc, etc etc. Also the opposite if you have subdomain and move/merge to
single domain the content (identical) gets huge ranking boost. Weird and kind of annoying but empirically shown time and again.
Search "seo subdomain vs subfolder" to see examples/evidence discussed. Annoying how Google runs the web but I guess kow tow is only way.
