That i do realize, but i don't want to view myself as "advanced", because that strengthens ideas of isolated ivory towers and elitism.

TBH, I don't know about philosophy, but it's a myth in psychology. I'm not in a ivory tower because I'm paid 3 times more than a phd student

I'm not in an ivory tower because I have slightly more job security than other postdocs. There are untouchables, but certainly not me.

i think the ivory tower perception is where senior academics develop sense of intellectual superiority and dismiss anyone junior or outside

defo. I've seen it a fair bit in Cambridge / plant sciences but also many very open and un-snobbish senior ppl who will discuss anything
