I took it back to private, hang on.

OK reload. Bear in mind the least idea is not finished and that I've made a mess. Perhaps look at previous commit to head actually. Sorry!

I've been recommended a couple things by
@seaandsailor in another thread which I'll get round to ASAP tomorrow. - End of conversation

i think this could be the problem but not sure: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/20727375/multiprocessing-pool-slower-than-just-using-ordinary-functions …
-
Thanks!
I think you might be (partially) right but still slower than others — see here:https://twitter.com/o_guest/status/849674474463035392 …

you did not choose how many workers you want for the pool! If I'm not mistaken it defaults to one, so it will be slower than single proc
-
oh is that the problem! haha OK lemme try

don't know, but as an aside have you checked out joblib? uses multiprocessing but many niceties. such as sharing np arrays across workers
-
I need a chunk of time to set aside as I don't even know multiprocessing... it's on my list though!

-
it's actually a high level wrapper to make it easier, but agree its a good idea to get to know multiprocessing first. learn the hard way!
